Cycling, Skydiving and Jam at Vincent Flooring – all in aid of Woking Hospice

Cycling, skydiving and jam may seem like an unusual combination, but members of our Vincent Flooring team are using all three to raise money for Woking Hospice.

As a local company that had been embedded in the Surrey community for over 50 years we have always been keen supporters of local charities and our focus this year is to raise vital funds for The Woking & Sam Beare Hospice.

Their hospices provide a comprehensive Palliative Care Service to residents of West Surrey, offering specialised, multi-disciplinary care for each patient on an individual basis who can be suffering from any number of progressive terminal illnesses.

As well as providing in-patient care and day care units at both hospices, they also have a community team who are vital in providing services over a much wider area including the boroughs of Woking, Spelthorne, Runnymede and Elmbridge.

So how is your local flooring company helping out?

2015-07-28 19.12.29 (2) cropFirstly we have Vincent Flooring’s Jon Darvill. A keen sportsman he will be putting his legs to good use on Sunday 31st July as he sets off for the 100 mile Ride London event. Jon has put in hours of training in a bid to peddle his way across London and Surrey to raise over £600.00 for the charity. You can show your support for Jon, and the Woking & Sam Beare Hospice on his Just Giving page.

Next up we have daredevil jam maker Tina Stephens. Tina, who lives in East Horsley, has already raised thousands for Woking Hospice and donated many more hours in her volunteer role of ‘Jams by Tina’. Losing both her Dad, Alan, in 2002 aged 61, and Mum, Ann, in 2004 aged 59, Tina experienced the wonderful care at Woking Hospice, which made her the volunteer she is today.

IMG_9222Tina regularly makes and sells tasty jams and chutneys at events across Surrey – but stepping up a gear she is also getting ready to jump out of a plane for the charity as she takes on the challenge of a 13,000 feet skydive.

Tina has raised an incredible £37,000 so far and you can show your support for her skydive challenge on Tina’s Virgin Monday Giving page.

We wish Jon and Tina every success and hope they won’t be floored by the challenges ahead – show your support and help us raise essential funds to help The Woking & Sam Beare Hospice continue their invaluable work across Surrey.
