Carpet design inspiration – we take a look at the latest trends in carpet styles

Carpets are a fantastic way to put a unique stamp on your interior design, and the styles available have come a long way over recent years. We stock thousands of carpet styles in our large Surrey flooring showroom, including leading brands Cormar, Brinton’s, Alternative Flooring, Westex, Ryalux and more.

To help you wade through the myriad of options available we have taken a look at just a few of the carpet design trends proving popular this year.

Stripes

Stripes emerged as the fashionable choice for stairs a few years ago, and remain so. They give the core of the home life and vibrancy, adding understated character to this much used space. Don’t be afraid to introduce stripes into other areas. Soft neutral stripes work really well to give subtle texture and interest into an otherwise neutral carpet. For a really welcoming entrance into your home extend your stripes right through the hallway. If this space is light and neutral the colourful stripes will add all the colour and styling you need.

Patterns

Like wall covering, adding pattern into your carpets can have a dramatic impact on your interior design.  Gone are old fashioned florals and swirls, and in their place are an array of designer inspired styles which add sophistication and warmth to any room.

Tartan is making a comeback, and provides the opportunity to pull out key colours from the carpet and match these with rich wall colours and furnishings for dramatic styling.

Polka dots are playful but also stylish, especially when combined with soft pastel tones.

And for the ultimate style statement geometric patterns remain in vogue – not for the faint hearted but they can add a real designer edge to your interior.

Pastel tones

Neutral carpets still remain timeless and popular, but emerging alongside traditional cream, natural and beige tones are softer pastels. These work well in any space, especially bedrooms or a cosy lounge, providing soft warmth and an ideal canvas to mix with light walls and soft furnishings.
